Bird Of Prey Experience Days: Experience the unrivaled majesty and power of
beautiful birds of prey, with this half day falconry course in
Cheshire. There is something supremely mysterious about these
highly-evolved creatures, but after 3 hours in close contact with
them while you learn falconry skills, you will definitely have a
deeper insight into their characteristics. While you get to grips
with handling birds of prey (or rather, while they get to grips
with you!), you will learn about their hunting habits, speed and
power, and you’ll see how man and bird have made such an unlikely
but successful duo for so many thousands of years.

Based in Cheshire, just a short drive from both Liverpool and
Manchester, this experience is perfect for anyone that loves birds
and nature, spends hours in front of Attenborough, or wants to try
something completely different and truly memorable!
Once you have arrived at the location you will
be welcomed by your guide, who will begin your experience with a
fascinating talk about the ancient art of falconry. You will go for
a guided tour of the aviary where your expert handler will
introduce a spectacular selection of birds of prey that you will be
getting close to during the course of the day. The guides really
know their stuff, so feel free to ask any questions you can think
of! At this point you will get to learn falconry skills, and handle
a variety of birds of prey, ranging from beautiful tiny owls
through to the more sinister looking falcons and buzzards!

Once you have learned how to handle the birds ‘on the glove’, you
will get to experience some of them fly in to land on your arm –
even one of the centre’s wonderful vultures! On top of all this,
you will take in one of the daily displays run by the centre, and
finish a superb experience with a ‘hawk walk’ – half an hour
walking through surrounding fields with a team of Harris Hawks!

Bird Of Prey Experience Days: Experience Raptor rapture with this fantastic falconry
experience in Warwickshire. Just a short drive from Birmingham and
Coventry, and less than an hour from Northampton, this aviary is
home to an astounding array of beautiful winged predators. Birds of
prey are fascinating, mysterious, and regal – it’s no wonder, then,
that falconry was originally an art practised by kings and
noblemen. But no longer do you need blue blood if you want to get
up close and personal with these fascinating feathered friends of
ours. This half day experience will give you the chance to learn
falconry basics, and allow you to get hands-on with owls, falcons
and hawks.

These are big, strong birds – but when you feel the weight of one
landing on your gloved arm, and feel the strength of its formidable
talons, you’ll realise just how big and strong they really are.The
half day course starts at 10.30am, where the participants begin by
spending some time in the office learning the history of Falconry,
and becoming familiar with the equipment used by falconers. After
this, it’s time to meet the birds – a stunning variety of hawks,
falcons, and owls. The next stage of the experience is the first
part of the bird’s training (Manning), where you will walk around
the centre with one of the birds, so that it gets used to the area
– and you, of course!

Training then starts – normally with a Harris Hawk – and you will
learn just how the birds are encouraged to fly back to their human
hunting partners. The final part of the experience will be
‘free-flying’, really enjoying the form and power of the bird
(usually a European Eagle Owl) at its best.

Experience Days Tours: Take a terrifying tour of London on the Ghost Bus! You can
expect devilish drivers, creepy conductors and petrified
passengers, as you tour London’s more supernatural sights. The
fright bus is a London tour with a twist, taking you to haunted
spots and burial grounds, and revealing some skeletons in our
capital’s closet!

The guides are not just ordinary tour guides, but are also actors
who’s job it is to keep you laughing and squealing, in equal
measure. Spend 1 hour 15 minutes being driven from stop to spooky
stop, as you are regaled by the ghoulish guides ghost stories. This
is an ideal London group activity and a fantastic family day
out.The tour begins in the evening, of course… You’re not afraid
of the dark are you? The bus, which is a refurbished ‘Carcass
Coach’, departs from Northumberland avenue and takes you for a
ghoulish, 1hr 15min guided tour of the city, the west end, and
south of the river. Along the way you will hear of demon barbers,
impaled heads, executions and unmarked graves…

The bus itself is a genuine coffin coach, originally used in the
19th Century as a sort of funeral vehicle that could transport the
coffin, pallbearers, and 50 mourners! Your London Ghost Tour will
be as funny as it is creepy, and is a great group or family
activity.
