Glass Making Experience Days: This great introduction to glass making is the perfect way to
gain an insight into this ancient art and learn some of the skills
and techniques that have been used for hundreds of years. The
taster will begin with the basics of safety including the basic
skills to shape hot glass from the furnace. With a maximum of four
students per instructor, you will get plenty of hands on time
learning how to use the state of the art tools and machinery to
create a bespoke glass pieces to take away such as a paper weight.
No experience needed just curiosity and enthusiasm!Once you have
arrived and been welcomed to the centre the taster experience will
begin with a welcome and safety talk before getting introduced to
some of the tools and how to use them. You will quickly move on to
collecting molten glass from the furnace and working under the
watchful eye of the master glass maker. You will then learn how to
shape and add colour. With help for the instructor, you will be
able to utilise the skills you learnt to create your own piece. The
session will end with a glass blowing demonstration from the
instructor.
Please note: Your piece will be sent to you after the experience as
it will need to be fired in the kiln for hardening at a cost of
£20.

white balance and with the full day tuition, learn about
composition and how to frame your subjects to capture dramatic
photographs every time. By the end of the hands-on experience you
will have mastered the art of using your digital SLR camera and
start seeing the world in a different light.Once you have arrived
and been welcomed to the centre your experience will begin with an
introduction to digital photography. The experienced tutor will run
through the basics skills required to improve the quality of your
photographs, including an explanation of the how to use the manual
controls on your SLR camera; from aperture, ISO, shutter speeds and
white balance. Enjoy learning and practicing these impressive
functions, whilst trying to compose the perfect photo! With expert
guidance throughout, listen to the helpful hints and tips and make
notes on how each technique changes the appearance of your photos.
Your experience will draw to a close with a de-brief, including the
skills learnt throughout the lesson and a presentation of
completion certificate.
